Three Month Cutie

These three months have been way easier than I thought they would be as far as adjusting to having another person in our family. Gavin has even asked me when I am going to have another baby. :)

Emma Kate is really showing us her personality now. She loves to chew on her hands and is usually all smiles. She also loves to sleep with her head buried in your arms when holding her. She likes her hands near her face or head and is always moving. Mom calls her a wiggle worm. I call her a bobble head since that is how she looks when she holds her head up. She does pretty good with it, but she is always moving so her head shakes a bit like she is nodding. It is so adorable. She has really shown a dislike (actually hatred) for her carseat. Then she is starting to prefer me over any other caretaker so if I take her out with me, she fusses because of the carseat, but if I leave her home, she fusses since I am not there. She is starting to nurse really well finally. She will latch on until I let down. She used to not until milk was flowing fast for her.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

My boys are a hoot and embarrass me weekly. LOL

Last week I decided to stop with my crew at TJMaxx. As we entered the store, a manager, who was leaning on a rack of clothes, stopped me to ask how I was doing. After I answered him, Owen wanted to know who I was talking to. I was holding Emma Kate and answering Owen, so I wasn't watching Gavin as good as I should have been. I looked up and noticed that he was cupping the manager's butt. The manager slowly turned his head to see what he was feeling and looked down and saw Gavin. As this happened, I started apologizing profusely and then tried to get out of there as quick as possible. I know that I was so red. I could have died right there on the spot. I whispered to Gavin as we were walking away, "Why did you do that?" He responded that he thought the guy wasn't real. I think this has to qualify as my most embarrassing moment.

The other night, Owen was being really loud(his normal self, he yells instead of talks sometimes). I told him that he needed to use his inside voice. Thinking maybe he didn't understand me, I asked him if he knew what an inside voice was. He said, "yes". I said, "Well, what is it?" He said really loudly, "HUSH". Now, this conversation has become an inside joke for Gavin, Owen and I. Gavin loves to ask Owen what an inside voice is and have Owen yell out, "Hush".

Passy Update

As of today, we are still passy free. Owen keeps asking for it and whining. I told him that he can borrow one of Emma Kate's pink ones, but he refuses the pink. (I guess he doesn't need it that bad. If I had an addiction to passys, I wouldn't care what color it was. They all taste the same.)

I love this face

Hurricane Emma

I miss my passy!

Owen dropped his passy in the garage on Wednesday night when we got home. I am very OCD about germs and the like. Recently, we had an exterminator treat our garage as well as the entire perimeter of the outside of our house, so I didn't feel safe with him using the passy after he had dropped it. We did not have any backups and it was after 9:00 so I was not going to put them all back in the car to go on a passy shopping trip.
He really missed the passy and kept asking for it all night. I just reminded him that we didn't have it and that I would get him a new one in the morning. I fully intended to do this. I did tell him that maybe he should just not have a passy anymore since he was three and such a big boy. He said, "I'm two, I'm still a baby." LOL
This morning I decided to make him a deal. If he got rid of the passy for good, I would buy him a toy. So, it was either buy a passy or buy a toy. I fully expected him to choose the passy. However, he thought about it and decided the toy was the way to go.
Tonight, I made him tell Daddy what we did today and he got all upset again asking for a passy. He wanted me to go get him a new one. I said I would but that he would have to return the toy. He really didn't think that was fair and a tantrum ensued. He did calm down and go to sleep again tonight without a hitch, so I am thinking that we are finally passy-free.
Is it bad that it didn't bother me that Gavin is in kindergarten, but I want to cry when I think of Owen without a passy? I can't believe my *baby* is growing up. I know I am going to be a mess when Emma Kate decides to give hers up.

One last picture of Owen with his beloved passy.

Gavin's First Day of Kindergarten

Gavin had a wonderful first day of school. I knew it would be an adjustment for all of us. Since Emma Kate was born, we have been sleeping in and staying up late. That all changed on Tuesday. It took a little coaxing, but once Gavin was fully awake, he popped out of bed and raced around the house getting ready for school. Last year, he drove me crazy since he was such a slow-poke the majority of the time. That, combined with my love of sleep meant we spent most mornings last year running late. I hope to change that this year, but so far, it isn't happening. Good intentions...

We walked him all the way in and to his classroom. Once he got to his class, he barely said goodbye before he raced inside. He had no apprehension at all this year. He is attending the same school that he attended for Preschool 3 and Preschool 4. I too, didn't feel any anxiety on his first day. I am comfortable with the school and having him leave us during the week. Next year, when he switches schools, I know that will all change. I know that I will be a nervous wreck.

We picked him up and he didn't want to come home. LOL I told him that he had the whole year to catch up on all the things he still wanted to do. I am thrilled that he loves it and that he is so happy there. I hope he has a great year and is prepped well for the first grade.

Pictures from last year

Man, I didn't realize how much he has changed.
