Purple Princess

Emma Kate still has thrush. I decided to try Genetian Violet after two rounds of Nystatin for her and Diflucan and Lotrimin AF for me and time spent boiling everything that touches her mouth.(passys, nipples, medicine syringe) Supposedly this stuff is supposed to work in the 3-4 day treatment so we may be thrush-free as of Monday. I sure hope so. I may have to make sure she keeps her passy in if we go out this weekend. LOL

Open House

Gavin was invited to an Open House at his school Thursday morning. when I woke him up he was very excited and rushed around getting ready. Usually he is such a slow poke so this was a nice change. Once at the school he was a tad irritated at me for making him pause for pictures as he was anxious to get inside. Once in the classroom, he basically ignored the teachers and made a beeline for the centers checking everything out. We stayed for over an hour and then it was time to leave. However, Gavin wanted to stay and play. I just know that this will be a great year for him and am thrilled that he is so excited to be there.

Captain Underpants

Owen is now in underwear all during the day and we have not had any accidents in several days. The first day or two, we only had poopy accidents. He is not ready to poop in the potty(What is it with pooping? Gavin was the same way.)so he puts on a pull-up when he has to poop. He is so proud of his new big-boy underwear and loves them all so much that he changes them several times a day just to wear all the cool characters. It is funny because he often puts them on backwards and then his bottom hangs out. He is just so proud and so cute with his underoos. Way to go big boy. (Now, if you would stop growing up so darned fast!)

It is so funny to watch Gavin when his hair is styled. He will take both of his hands and lightly "smooth" his hair every couple of minutes to make sure that it still looks awesome. TeeHee

Two Months...Highlights

I can't believe two months has passed by.
Gavin summed it up great today when I mentioned that it was Emma Kate's two month old birthday. They both hollared, "Yay!". I then asked them if they remembered her not being here. Gavin spoke up, "I don't want to, she is at her home now and she likes it!". I feel the same way, Gavin.
Eddie mentioned this weekend how he loves having the three of them. I can't imagine our lives without her. I always felt like we were missing something in our lives before she got here and now it just feels like she completes our little family.
Right now Emma Kate is cooing and talking, pulling up on her chest, and still sleeping a LOT. However, it is simply her presence that brightens our lives.

No More Tangle Fairies

Before

Since last summer, Gavin has wanted to have long hair. I personally don't like buzz cuts on boys and prefer long hair myself so I agreed to let him grow it out. He wanted it to look like Prince Charming from Shrek

so that he could shake his head and it would fall from side to side. However, Gavin's hair is VERY thick and we have been battling the tangle fairy, plus it takes forever to dry. The no tangle spray works great, but I have been wanting to try a shorter hairstyle on him. Gavin finally begrudgingly agreed so I cut his hair this weekend. I took about 2-3 inches off of the top. I think we both almost shed some tears at the final result but after two days, we both love it. Eddie immediately loved it. I bought some hair gel this weekend which we are going to try out for church tomorrow. Gavin likes it spikey but it may need to be shorter to hold the style. It is still very heavy now and wants to lay flat.

Weekend Cuties

This weekend has actually been very eventful compared to the ones since we have had Emma Kate. We went to mom's yesterday and ate burgers and let the kids swim(we toyed with going to the big pool but Emma Kate isn't old enough yet.) Then today, we finally made it to church. I have been meaning to go the last couple of Sundays but always overslept(very easy to do when you don't get to bed until 4 am) Lsst night, Emma Kate was fussy with a capital F. I have NO idea what was wrong with her. I think she is getting thrush back as she was fussy at the breast on Thursday night and I noticed some more white patches(just not as severe as before). I may refill her Nystatin and will probably start boiling her passys and stuff, too. I guess I haven't been as agressive as I should.
So, last night she fussed or cried for about 4 hours straight. Nothing would soothe her and when she was calm it was for less than 5 minutes at a time. Finally she nursed then conked out at 2 am. What a night!!!

I just said something to Emma Kate along the lines of "Girlfriend,..."

Owen pipes up and says, "Mommy, her's not your girlfriend, her's your baby and my baby."

Something Special

I want to try to post weekly things that are special and unique about my boys.

This week, I am a bit selfish so I am going to focus on ways they let me know they love me. :)

Owen: He will say, "Mommy, you are the best mommy I have ever heard."
Me: "You mean, ever seen?"
Owen: "No, ever heard."

Ha,ha

Gavin will say: "Mommy, I love you, 61,000"
Me: "Oh, that is a lot. I love you more, 298,596."
Gavin: "But, I love you more than that, 28.

Ha,ha

Both of these conversations go on all.the.time. They just crack me up. (Speaking of cracks, Owen loves saying butt crack for some reason)

Five Weeks

I had to take Emma Kate in last week because we both had thrush. I have never had it before, but diagnosed us via the internet. (The internet doctor is so awesome!) At the office, she weighed in at 10lbs 3oz. My big girl. She isn't due for another check up until August 21. I also came back to work. :( I am not ready at all, but my wonderful boss needed me here, so here I am. He really wants me to work more than I am (3 hours at a time, twice a week), but with nursing it is hard to do more. I love my job so much, BUT I love Emma Kate more. She is only little once.



We just watched Gavin's home videos from his birth to six weeks this weekend. It is so funny how our parenting style has changed. It took me about 15 minutes to give him a bath and Eddie taped the entire thing. Now, I bathe Emma Kate in 5 minutes tops. She likes it and I should let her stay longer, but I am busy with all three and don't have time to take forever. I am no nonsense now, when it comes to newborn care. I guess, somewhere along the lines, I learned that they wouldn't break. ;)
